How do you know it was a legit version? If you never registered, you would never know.
I bought a copy of 3D Studio many years ago from someone that won it (so they said, as they were SoftImage user). I asked for the serial number, called Discreet (before Autodesk owned it) and they confirmed it had never been registered. I bought it, registered, and have been able to upgrade each time.
Dunno if Adobe is the same, but Autodesk does not allow license transfers, once someone buys it/registers it, that's it.
I agree, if Adobe does the same, that is kinda bs.
