Le Corbusier said that 'a true architect [there's usage for other fields of design of course] has to have the same attention for dtail from the urban plan to a house's door knob, and always be true to the initial concept'.
I remember a conference in A'Dam [Berlage Institute], where Rem used the 'F**k Details' term over and over, but when confronted with the fact that extreme detailing are in fact responsible for the sustainbility of a large part of his work, he couldn't come with an answer.
