not entirely. If Canada wasn't as farsighted as they were to have instituted the Quebec Act, which let the French stay and retain their Catholic ways, there would be no Quebec at all. Assimilation is what happened in all the places in the US that have franch names and you never knew why. Like Louisville. and Detroit. and New Orleans.
