--> get fixed lenses. cheaper and always higher quality.
obviously there's the intrigue of getting a macro lense, but a year from now you'll be kicking yourself.
as for the pics you're trying to achieve...don't get a wide angle. i think you'll be very dissapointed. you'd be best with extension tubes on a classic 55 or 80mm lense, or to go with something in the 180mm+ for those effects.
right now i'd reccommend buying a lot of fixed lenses with f-stops below 2.8 if you can afford it...
