Oooh a Boz thread. Errr... must scramble to forge some convoluted argument against whatever it is he is saying... NO SPEC WORK, SILLY BOZ BAD!
Sorry, that No-Spec followed by a snarky remark seemed horrendously uninformed and clearly just posted to get a response.
This is not spec work. It's much more an entrepreneurial contest. You make an app using Adobe software that you think will be great on Sony hardware, and if a panel of people think it is the best, you get a fuckload of publicity, money and competitive edge through being given access to new technology before the rest of your peers do. If you don't, you retain your shit-hot product that you can go make money off anyway.
If you're making an app that has no money-making potential, and bank on making your money by winning the contest then you are just foolish.
This is not spec work. This is much more like a non-government grant/publicity fest.
- < Third paragraph describes spec work. Lots of spec jobs allow you to keep your work and sell it if you want.nb
- It's fine. Do it if you want. But I think work like this hurts the industry more than helps. No big deal.nb
- you don't fucking understand what spec work is.. stop talking about it because you are a confused young man.Boz
- It is not spec work. It's an entrepreneurial competition. This is not work for a client that if unpicked, gets nothing and is worthless.orrinward
