They must have been right handed. I remember as a kid seeing a documentary about DaVinci. He was sketching a thief publicly hanged in the square. While everyone cheered, Leonardo drew. Apalled that he would record it someone remarked "see, he's left handed. The hand of the devil." That's been my response often to "oh, you're left handed." Few get the joke.
