yeah, that's a tough one. depending on how you built it, you *may* be able to go select > same fill color... that would work if the background elements are a different fill color than the foreground objects. i assume that it's not built that way, though. you could also ungroup everything and select the foreground elements and then lock each item (apple + 2) and then just select the remaining elements and delete them. good times.
