thanks for the suggestions, all im trying to do is imagine you have a bed. now you put a heavy book on the bed so that part of the bed goes lower. remove the book. now look at the bed from above. that's what im trying to acheive. i've played with all the effects in bevel/emboss and didnt get the results i wanted, which is why i thought i should be using another tool.
about the playing with channels thing, i never did that before, one those things i gotta learn as well! but thanks.
