I want to post the Princess Bride clip about 'mawidge', but I think it would be inappropriate.
Instead, I'll say that in the 8 months I've been travelling, 2 couples in my group of friends back home have separated, with another one on the books. Also, one engagement that we all think is destined for complete and utter failure.
Of the 2 separations, 1 of them has had as good an outcome as possible, with both parents stepping up to the plate and being adults about the whole situation. They're both solid, stable, and have the interests of their kids at heart.
The other, sadly, is a mess.
If you feel you're in the latter, do what everyone else has said. Lawyer up, protect yourself, and let the system do its thing.
