spot - Harper is the only one who thinks those jets are a good deal – even US military consultants say the jets don't suit Canada's needs and the price Harper wants to pay won't even get them off the ground.

Layton says he'd scrap the deal and get Canadians building a new line of ships instead.

I don't know why we're buying shit from the US and Britain when we could be building them ourselves and creating jobs.

Anyway, it seems like things could go two ways here:

NDP minority gov't (bit of a long shot, I admit) with Cons as Opposition, and Jack would have to work with the Liberals to get anything done – not really a problem, there's a lot of overlap there.

Conservative minority gov't (a bit more likely) with NDP as Opposition, but the Cons probably won't need the support of the NDP to get anything done, as they can also work with the Liberals to make up the seat difference. There isn't as much overlap there, but there is some.

    • That second scenario would depend entirely on how humiliated the Liberals feel.Continuity
    • If we can build things that function in space, you'd think the sky would a snap. ;-)Andrew_D
    • I am sure our Canadarm works in the sky too. Problem is it needs to be attached to shit.ETM
    • wtf are you talking about?? What do you think the cost is to keep the CF-18's flying past their end of life?spot13
    • Notice the jet $$ debate is gone? that's because there is nothing to debate, the military needs jets not boats, wtfspot13
