This is the clause in their fine print....
11.Variations in Quantity Every endeavour will be made to deliver the correct quantity ordered, but estimates are conditional upon margins of 5 per cent of work in one colour only and 10 per cent for other work being allowed for overs and shortages ( 4 per cent and 8 per cent respectively for quantities of 50,000) the same to be charged or deducted.
There was no mention of this in the quotes, only when they emailed the T&C to confirm the order.
They seem to think it's a common occurrence in the print industry for this to happen?
We spent over £50k on print buying last year with various printers - It's not something I've come across before - ever in 11yrs buying print for our clients so really astounds me that in these times that a printer is using their small print to squeeze more money out of a customer that could potentially give them much more work. They'll never get future work from us again!
- well... sort of... it happens, it's often eaten, sometimes it's a hot potato billing experience...vaxorcist
