    whereRI - ebay. and whatever the equivalent of craigslist is over there. get 2x as much for your money, mate.

    i got one of these:

    for $650. would have probably cost $2200 new.

    look for a decent frame from a good company or a good builder, and a decent gruppo. shimano 105 or better is good.

    don't fret about spoke count on the wheels - that is nonsense.

    most importantly, test-ride whatever you are going to buy. the fit of the bike, especially the frame size, matters more than the model of the bike itself. on the flip side, you can retrofit a new stem/handlebar/saddle onto any bike to make it fit perfectly - remember that too - but the frame size you're stuck with.
