    i broke up with my japanese girl friend after 2 years recently. (hence the new house and renovations). i'm still close to her and her family, who live north of tokyo. was on skype with them this weekend, they're wearing helmets at home, They said to me and her, they have had a good life and they are old anyway, so they will let the young people leave if there is a melt down.

    talk about mixed emotions. argh.
