dbloc, when I was 27 I lived there for 2.5 years after coming from Toronto. I liked where I worked a lot but it's a depressing social scene if your not married. Rent was dirt cheap and the mountains are amazing and the weather was great (compared to Toronto). Your a one hour flight to LA. If your married and have a good job lined up it can be pretty nice. Made some great friends and did some great work there and payed of my student loans.
Don't worry about the religious/mormon thing. The coolest people I met where mormons. The struggle is that most non-mormons leave for LA or San Fran so the city is a little boring but great for outdoors stuff if your into that crap.
