I have done both. Both have pros and cons in my book.
My thoughts as of now are that it is just not professional to throw the client to the wolves with a few digital files. There are always things that come up and you are going to have to deal with them anyway. Better to keep the client out of the loop then have them coming to you to solve printing problems.
Plus you can make a little more money on the printing.
