I think that Microsoft will milk Nokia's marketshare, patents and everything they can get their hands on. The next step is to fully integrate Nokia into Microsoft (aka kill it as they would have taken every piece of technology Nokia has) and eventually either build their own Microsoft hardware division for phones using Nokia's capabilities or just use Nokia's numerous patents.
That Apple Outsider guy has a very valid point.. Microsoft realized they can't be Google and Android, but they realized that they can apply Apple/Xbox Live model to the phones and Windows Phone 7.. this is where Nokia comes in for them.
