  How were they competitors? One makes hardware, phones, one makes software, and a few misc. pieces. I don't see any conflict.

  Big business is as much about politics as anything else in life. There are people forced in and out all the time, obviously with particular interests in mind.

  If you want to look at conspiracy, look at how is on the board for most of these large tech companies.
