Try if you can to get a machine with a video card where the video ram is NOT shared with the main RAM...
4 Gigs of RAM is a major help with Windows7, I love my used Dell... the Latitude office models have less crapware than the consumer models.
Crapware (apps you do NOT want, but there to make money for the vendor) sucks... hugely messy.... it can slow down a windows machine and may be hard to delete completely... I got a clean Windows 7 install from an IT geek friend...
