    Neither of those articles really go in depth as to the reasoning behind the decision to end the busing program, but if it was a matter of proximity, i can't say i completely disagree with them. i don't let my kids ride the bus. It's a 45min ride one way (even though the school is only 10min away). This means getting up earlier, not getting as much sleep, being exposed to the behaviors of older children in an environment where supervision is heavily restricted (due to the fact that they're driving a frickin bus).
    Schools in all areas should have the same resources. But if they're busing them soley for the goal of having a diverse school populace, i think it's a bit wrong-headed and may actually breed contempt where it hadn't been before, rather than unity
