sorry I didn't get back to you yet (k-l) been busy moving house!
Anyway try the following:
Go to window > Net Connection Debugger
then test the movie... the NCDebugger should at least give you an indication of where it's having difficulty....
if you're still having problems send me a FLA and I'll try to find out more... testing remoting is a bit tricky here though due to paranoid security settings....
