Popularity is decreasing because of the degree of difficulty in learning code, I presume. You see in 2004 Print Design was strong. Now its almost all digital. A mix of digital designers and print designers.
If they want a print designer, he needs to have some web.
If they want a web designer he needs to have some print.
With all the phones, apps, programming, development I think only those with the passion stay in.
