last time i checked the i3/i5/7 were better than dual quadcore.

The i3/5/7 has better memory bandwidth showing slight gains in media encoding and photoshop too over the dual quad core.
the standard dual quad core which was the best bang for buck was the Q6600, which was dual quad core @ 2.4ghz, but could very easily overclock to 3.2ghz (this was its main selling feature really). giving 12.8 ghz in total. But youve got to consider how optimised the software you are using is, for multi-core chips.
- I have a Q6600 hackintosh, see no need to upgrade for a little while....vaxorcist
