I had 3 different Pentax dslr, the last one was K10D. My constant gripe (and eventual reason to switch systems) was the AF was slow and useless in lower light. K10D had the best AF but still far from what Nikon and Canon had been doing for years. I
I hope that has changed now. Speaking of batteries, AA are 1.5V but AA rechargeables only 1.2V. The best battery performance was from CRV3 rechargeables, with an extra feature: the AF was faster due to higher voltage.
