For projects with a value of under £2000 I now ask for payment on sign off, prior to delivery of artwork/website etc. I was spending far to much time chasing up invoices for a couple of hundred pounds.
For projects over £2000 I set up payment plans for each stage of the project - eg: 50% on sign of off templates, 50% on/prior to launch of site.
I got ripped off massively earlier this year and it won't be happening to me again.
