Also there is a difference between fashion based creative (which tends have more nominal look) vs other luxury goods.
Luxury is about lifestyle. Most convey as classic but it can appeal to others who curve differ in the range of how they define luxury.
If the notion of luxury was based on minimalistic ideals, most japanese design would pass as luxury. And it would appear so when you first look at them.
Bases for varying class of luxury also determines the look but not exclusively. Range of the target consumer can be the determiner but not always true as breaking away from the norm of the luxury look can stand out from the rest.
