I have the 21UX and it rules. Straight up. I used to do a lot of character design work, and as long as you have a strong processor and maxed out RAM, it keeps up. As always, the faster the machine, the better the performance. They say it can work on G5s even, but I wouldn't do that. Now I use it for a lot of my retouching work (running off of a 2010 MBP) as well as my general concept work, and it's solid.

I would definitely recommend using Alias Sketchbook Pro or Corel Painter before Photoshop, if you can. P-shop handles fine, most of the time, but it occasionally has a lag when working on huge files.

The customizable buttons on the side make all of that panning, zooming and scrolling very fast and easy. It quickly becomes second nature. They also have a setting where you can attach it to a second monitor and toggle from one to the other.

If you're more into storyboarding or something more in the rough-sketch area, try the 12" version. I have some friends who have that and they love it. They take it with them to coffee houses or gardens and do plein-air painting. Great stuff.

I swear by it. It's paid for itself a dozen times over.

    • awesome.. I would like to add fine details and lines and various details to my photoshop compositions so I'm thinking it's well worth it.Boz
