  What are you thoughts on ring flash? I know its overly used but it tends to be decent as fill light.

  I used 50mm with right and now I am thinking 85 with ring. Too far?

  • ring flash cool for fill light, 2 stops less than main, so you can push your sidelight without harsh front shadowsvaxorcist
  • right light as main light can be cool, if subject close to wall, doughnut shadow, or move 3 feet away from wallvaxorcist
  • 50 or 85 both good, but note that ring light loses power with distance, so slower recyclevaxorcist
  • three kinds of ring flash... expensive high-power, and cheap low-pwer, and homemade low-power fun....vaxorcist
