  the HFS+ filesystem avoids and actively removes fragmentation as long as you maintain a healthy amount of free space on your drive. defrag tools for OS X are a waste of money.

  • It only applies to some files, ie it doesn't defrag files above 20mb in size.raf
  • but it won't write a fragmented file in the first place if you have enough space on your drive.acescence
