I recently bought a new external USB powered hard drive and I wad looking at a 1TB drive.

As always with external harddrives there will be drives that fail. However when researching drives you will notice a large increase in failure frequency with the larger 1tb USB drives.

This for me wasn't good enough for me I wanted something more reliable. So I decided against it and got a slightly smaller 750gb USB powered seagate expansion drive.

Also to my knowledge seagate USB drives are the most reliable.

If you want 1TB get a not very portable 3.5" (which means mains powered) desktop hard drive.

Obviously you could get a 1tb USB and it might be fine, but im not a gambler! Hope that helps.
