I like the 2nd one. However, I would give some sort of visual cue to relate the red title in Mauori (sp) to the maouri verse.
Also I would enlarge the title text. Have something that works on two levels. The eye-catching-from-a-distance title, that brings the viewer in, then follow that up with text that is only discernable from close quarters.
I like the nz/carl blosfeld graphic.
