the problem is you're starting it up, even just for firewire.
you may have just the graphic card fucked up, there was a factory problem with them on a whole generation.
By pushing it now, you may fry the whole logic board (what happened to me) and if you do, no free fixy!! really, just go with it to a store, remove the hd, put it on a case and you can boot your system from it, as if nothing happened. Frying the Logic Board completely will cost you 500$
