I am working in Stockholm but still for my original American employer. It seems pretty tough to get a job from a Swedish creative firm - they would rather hire from inside the country, and as someone else said, there is plenty of talent in Sweden already. So getting a work permit could be difficult.
As far as living costs go, Stockholm's much more expensive than Salt Lake City, where I hail from, but maybe not much more than larger U.S. cities.
And getting a flat in Stockholm isn't impossible, but it's tough, yes. I got lucky and scored a tiny place in a great location, but the outskirts aren't too shabby compared to American suburbs.
