Maybe the reason my post seems not to make any sense to you is because I assumed that since you're participating in a discussion about racism and the progress this country has made, that you'd familiar with things like discriminatory post-WWII G.I. Bill lending practices that set the economic foundation of a generation of young white families on much firmer ground than that of their black countrymen. Maybe I assumed you'd know about the phenomenon of white flight and how it lead to the economic conditions and subsequent slashing of public services in inner-city areas that became severely ghettoized. Maybe I assumed you'd be able to make the logical deduction that denying someone the right to vote or attended a school because of the color of their skin is, in fact, denying them their right to participate in the democratic process or get an education. Maybe I should stop making assumptions about you.
By your logic, one coud argue for the legalization of murder...since, you know, most civilized people know it's wrong and won't do it. I'm sorry, but your argument for the repeal of the Civil Rights Act is fucking dumb.
