I agree with formed. It's kind of ridiculous to have to download a app when there's a perfectly functioning website.
The ipad seems like it would be the perfect device for mini-comics and zines, but the app pipeline seems like the wrong way to go about it. How many illustrators know objective C and have the patience to go through the apple store's vetting process, or the money to pay someone else to do it. For comics, at least, old school javascript and HTML can get the job done.
