I second the screen size post from the first page. I bought a 17" powerbook (piece of shit) because I thought it would be useful for designing when on site with agencies but it's a brick.
I'd go for the sony every time, it doesn't look as fancy perhaps but £600 is a lot of cash, you could buy a decent TV or something with the difference.
