i managed to find an old nudie brochure for a pair of my jeans and i'm just gonna type what it says about washing and some general perspective from people who knows jeans. hopes this clarifies and helps:

Wearing your Nudie jeans for at least six months before you wash them is only valid for dry indigo coloured denim. Not black denim. Not prewashed denim. For the best result choose heavy dry denim, 13-14oz or more. For example dry selvage. The dry fabrics in lighter weights and stretch can also be worn in this way but you won't get the same strong abrasions and the fabric is not as strong as the heavyweight denims.

If you use them a lot and wait at least six months before washing them, the jeans will get fabolous. The indigo will be worn off in places where you make natural creases.
When you finally wash your well worn jeans, the indigo will fade and you will get contrasts in these places.
If you wash them too early the indigo just bleeds out over the whole garment and gives an even, dark indigo colour and the magic process is gone.

If you need to remove stains before the first wash, do not use washing powder. Just rub with some water. If you need to get rid of smell, hang them outside in damp weather or put them in the freezer.

After using your dry jeans for a long time, turn them inside out and wash in 40 or 60 degrees celsius. Higher temperature gives higher contrast. Stretch out the inseam when the jeans are still damp. Do not dry tumble. Let them dry hanging.

When you buy your jeans they probably fit perfectly. During your "daily" wear they stretch from the warmth of your body. When you wash them after six months they shrink all these "stretched out" inches from your wearing them plus the normal shrinkage. Some people feel they do not fit into the garment after wash, but if you try on your jeans while they are still damp they easily stretch and fit to your body. Within an hour they are back to feel like your favourite again.
