Get a Dell Precision Mobile Workstation (available through the small business section). Just as fast as a MBP or even faster b/c you get 16 GBs of RAM. I've also had Dell through the years for PC but use a new 17" MBP for everyday work. Their average home user systems are shit (and are priced that way too) but their high end workstation systems for Pro users are really good. Tech support is great if you do the small business account thingy (No wait time and you speak to someone who actually speaks English and not robot English).
