    Dells are fucking shit. Sorry, I'm not going to bother qualifying that again here (have done many times); Just trust me.

    Yes, Sony are overpriced, but they're well-built, usually fairly specced (for price) machines. I think my VAIO's about 5 years old now and I've had it running for up to 12 hours daily since then.

    If I was buying again now, the only other brands I'd consider that spring to mind are Toshiba and Lenovo.
