also, this isn't just flash, it's java too. java has been around a lot longer than flash, and a LOT of good software has been written using it. in fact almost every other mobile platform uses java which makes it easy for developers and other companies to port their apps from one phone to another. same with .net and any other popular or emerging run-time based technology.
i've said this before, but i'm not the hugest proponent of flash. i could take it or leave it. however, i think this is a matter of principal.
