    The point is this, kids: Flash being "better" only matters if that extra level of quality is necessary on most sites. If not, then it can be replaced.

    Ask yourself why JQuery has replaced Flash so quickly for smaller page animations in just a few years. Is it because JQuery is better than or even as good as Flash in most areas? Nope, it's because in spite of that, it's "good enough" to the point where the other advantages (free, open standard) make it an overall better choice. It seems likely we'll see the same calculus take place with other applications such as video and audio pretty soon.

    • you're still going to build a flash video player for degradation/ older browsers, why write two?kingsteven
