I guess Flash dying off seems more plausible to me because I haven't really used it much lately...the first few years of my career, a lot of the work I did was Flash...in the past year, I've cracked it open maybe 2 or 3 times. But I tend to work on "normal" content-oriented sites and/or web applications, and not advertising stuff.

On the other hand, if your whole skillset is based around Flash, or you work for an agency that does marketing sites based in Flash, I can understand how you can say this is all BS. And probably you are right, for that type of site, Flash will be around a while longer.

For your average site though, it's becoming less necessary.

    • what's an average site to your standards. Many of the large corps still have flash contents in their sites.dbloc
    • The kind of site people actually use everyday?ukit
    • I don't see why any of this this Alexa top 100 vs Marketing sites stuff is relevant. It should come down to whatever is the best tool for the job.kingsteven
    • for the job.kingsteven
    • Relevant because when people talk about Flash surviving, I'm guessing they mean overall numbers and not just within a small nicheukit
    • small niche like marketing sites or your grandma playing backgammon online;)ukit
