Before it was released, no one cared about producing websites that would work on the iPhone.
Therefore, it probably stands to reason that a lot of people are going to have a hard time understanding why their site will need to be functional on the iPad.
While we might not know specifics about the device .. we do know that a Flash site is not going to be functional on the iPad.
It's the job of the developer to educate the client and let them know why their site _is_ going to need to work on the iPad; especially if they work in fashion retail.
Producing a Flash site for such a client is similar to leading them down a dead end street, imo.
