    it's terrible.

    You're a developer, you don't need a facy multi-column layout. Go 1 column like everyone else, 2 spaces before a new heading... at least that way it's legible. Do it in MS Word so you don't have to think to much about margins/proportion. Word should take care of all that reasonably well. Focus on your language and content. Leave the fancy layout for graphic designer resumes.
