I was one of the people who said that I would never, ever use one. I finally decided to just suck it up and buy one (I've got a 40), and it's one of the better decisions I've ever made. I don't know if you're on a PC or a Mac, but at least if you're on Mac, it couldn't be easier to use.
However, only buy one if you know you'll use it. I walk 25 minutes to classes every day, and I don't have a CD player in my car, so the main times I listen are going to class and driving somewhere. If you can think of times when it would be convenient for you to use it, I highly suggest buying it. If you like listening to the radio in your car, never walk anywhere, and are always around a computer that you could listen to music on, then you might want to reconsider the investment.
All logic aside: Buy an iPod!!
