Just try to be clear what your work is, or, I suppose, make it ambiguous but be clear when talking to people.
We've done some work for large brands and show what we did, like the website, print details, etc., but never just the bw logo by itself.
This is a tough area when you do work for a large client. But if they are large enough, I think most people will assume that you did not design the logo but that the logo needed to be present on the things you designed.
