Do you pick it up with your hands, or use gloves, or use a scoop? Do you clean the carpet with disinfectant, if so, what brand, what small does it have, which smell do you prefer?do you replace the littler tray. Do you move the litter tray to a spot the cat may prefer? Do you consider putting the cat outside at different times to avoid the problem.
You work through processes and solutions to work out the problem. When you find one that works, you have designed a very personal solution to a presonal problem.Unless you like cat shit on your floor of course.
