  How can you use a vector program for something where you need EXACT pixel representation. Take a look at the below graphic for one example. Illustrator is just not accurate for use on web. It's a VECTOR program, not a pixel program. This blurring effect happens even with simple shapes (like rectangles) as well.

  

  If you're having trouble with type on Photoshop, try to change the Anti-Aliasing Method (Sharp, Crisp, Strong, etc.). You'd be surprised as to how many designers don't even know about this.
