Step 1: Go to mediatemple.net and sign up for the cheapest hosting service they currently offer (it's the (gs), $20/month) OR use a different host if friends have recommended one that you want to use. When sign up, they will automatically set up your domain if you purchase it from them which is step 2.

Step 2: Choose your domain. The closest thing to your name is the easiest approach, but you can use whatever you like that's available.

Step 3: Download a free FTP app if you don't have one. Cyberduck for mac or Filezilla for PC will do fine for now. Login using the info provided by your new webhost!

Step 4: Locate your web directory. I think on the (gs) you can just log in to FTP, open the folder that is named after your domain, then open the folder called either 'www' or 'html'. Download indexhibit and upload the files to this folder. Select the folder called 'files' and press command-i on a mac. Where there are three digits, type 777. Eo this to 'files/gimgs' and 'ndxk-studio/config' as well.

Step 5: Log in to the media temple control panel and click Manage Databases > Add a database. Call it anything. Now click Global Settings. Leave this window open.

Step 6: In a new window, open yourwebsite.com/ndxz-studio/inst... and follow the steps. Use the info from the other window (global settings)– if on media temple use the internal hostname. go back to your database list if you forgot the name of the database you created (mediatemple adds a prefix which is part of the name). When you finish the install, go back to your FTP app and delete the install.php file.

Step 7: Tada! Go to yourwebsite.com/ndxz-studio/ and login. Any questions you have regarding indexhibit are on their site or of course we can help.

Dinner break + some olympics now for me. Happy web-ing!
