^ Of course, the US was also founded as a nation that did not allow women to vote, considered people of African descent as 3/5 of a person, and practiced slavery. But that is not the way things are today, because the people of the nation have been empowered to decide what is best.
I'll never understand the founding fathers argument. They never expected us to live as they lived. Sure, certain ideals were developed in hopes that they would persist, but among those ideals inscribed in our Constitution is the ability of the people to change it.
In other words, things change. It's called progress.
(And to my opponents on this concept, please consider that I'm debating, not hating. So let's try our best to keep this polite. Then again, it is your First Amendment right to respond how you like.)
