  we had an amazing oak on our street that had been there ever since the area was settled– it's in all my girlfriend's childhood pictures. big beautiful thing. then a storm blew off one of the weaker branches, which fell onto the "new guy on the block"'s van and broke one of the windows. he was so enraged he had the city come out and remove the entire fucking thing, all because he didn't have the sense to maintain the poor thing.

  now we have a giant messy crater where the giant once stood.

  damn shame.
